Are collocations worth teaching in adult learner English as a foreign language (EFL) classes?

Since the beginning of twentieth century communication among people diverse cultures has become an urgent demand. There are various motives for adults to learn English as a foreign language: develop their career or increase cultural horizons. The challenges facing adult learners quite different from those encountered by younger learners. time spend in training sessions is worthwhile investment. Teachers have adapt teaching methods help students acquire target language limited time. current research involves survey that raises importance collocations acquisition (students military specialty). A multiple choice questionnaire was applied. 58 intermediate were involved order find out collocation EFL groups obviously considered be one most effective ways easily learners’ written and oral communicative competence. results positive enough: findings implications teachers encourage practice new words not only remembering separate words, but also stable collocations. study recommends remedial procedures curriculum students’ collocational knowledge development.
